The Format Play

Ferrara is entering the $1 impulse price tier with a new 2.5-ounce Pocket Pack format spanning six of its longest-tenured candy lines: Everlasting Gobstopper, Lemonhead, Bottle Caps, Jujyfruits, Red Hots, and Runts. The format is new to the portfolio — Ferrara calls these its first-ever Iconic Pocket Packs — and targets the grab-and-go snacking occasion that drives a disproportionate share of confectionery volume in convenience, drug, and mass channels.

The $1 price point is a deliberate positioning move. Value-tier confectionery has held up relative to premium segments as consumers remain sensitive to snacking spend, making sub-$1.50 impulse SKUs an attractive fixture at checkout. For foodservice-adjacent operators running commissaries, movie-theater concessions, or entertainment-venue retail, a standardized $1 ring simplifies margin math and reduces shrink risk on slow-turning SKUs.

Six Brands, One Strategy

The six brands in the Pocket Pack lineup carry significant heritage equity. Red Hots has been on shelf for nearly a century; Jujyfruits dates to the 1940s. Lemonhead, Runts, Bottle Caps, and Everlasting Gobstopper round out a portfolio that spans hard candy, chewy gummies, and fruit-shaped formats — covering multiple texture and flavor profiles within a single planogram strip.

Greg Guidotti, Chief Marketing Officer at Ferrara, framed the launch as a reconnection play: bringing classic brands back into active purchase cycles through a more accessible, portable pack. The Pocket Pack sits below the brand's existing 4.5-ounce, 5-ounce, 10-ounce, and 12-ounce configurations, filling a gap at the entry price point without cannibalizing larger take-home formats.

Distribution and Channel Outlook

Select retail accounts are already carrying the Pocket Packs, with full nationwide distribution scheduled to begin in September 2026. For noncommercial and foodservice operators stocking candy for resale — stadiums, theaters, college dining, and healthcare retail — the timing aligns with fall season traffic rebounds and the return of high-frequency snacking occasions.

Ferrara, a Ferrero-affiliated company headquartered in Chicago, operates more than 30 facilities globally and sells products in more than 60 countries. Its broader U.S. confectionery portfolio — which includes NERDS, SweeTARTS, Laffy Taffy, Brach's, and Jelly Belly — reaches more than 91 million U.S. households annually, giving the company substantial shelf leverage to negotiate placement for new SKUs at national and regional accounts.
