The Product Move
Hint, Inc., the self-described No. 1 unsweetened flavored still water brand in the U.S. by SPINS and IRI data, is rolling out a limited-edition Treat Yourself Variety Pack featuring four dessert-inspired SKUs: Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Cupcake, Pineapple Whip, and Berry Cobbler. All four carry zero calories, zero sugar, and zero sweeteners, positioning them squarely in the better-for-you hydration segment that has been outpacing conventional flavored beverage categories for several years. The 12-pack retails at $18.99 and is available now at select Walmart locations as well as on Amazon and drinkhint.com.
The launch follows Hint's Star Spangled Variety Pack, an ice pop-inspired limited-time offer that returned for a second summer in 2026 and climbed to the brand's top-selling item. CEO Michael Pengue cited that performance as direct validation of operator and consumer appetite for sweeter flavor profiles in still water. "The Treat Yourself Variety Pack is the next evolution of that idea, responding to consumers' desire for everyday delights in a way that only Hint can," Pengue said.
The Market Case
The timing is calibrated against two intersecting consumer trends that carry direct implications for foodservice buyers and retail buyers alike. Survey data cited by the brand shows 62% of Americans indulge in small, affordable treats at least once a month — predominantly in food and beverage — while 1 in 5 Gen Z consumers self-report a daily "little treat" purchase. Simultaneously, 66% of Americans are actively choosing lower-sugar, lower-calorie drinks, according to a 2026 EY consumer beverage survey. That dual demand — indulgent flavor, clean nutrition panel — is exactly the positioning gap Hint is targeting.
For foodservice operators sourcing beverages for office, healthcare, education, or hospitality channels, the Treat Yourself SKUs offer a shelf-stable, single-serve option that addresses both wellness mandates and the growing expectation for flavor variety. The non-alcoholic beverage segment has seen consistent category growth as operators expand away from traditional carbonated soft drinks, and flavored still water remains one of the fastest-moving sub-segments within that shift.
What's Next
With nearly 10,000 consumers already pre-registered for first access at launch, Hint is signaling the variety pack could match or exceed the Star Spangled Pack's sell-through. The brand distributes through traditional retail, foodservice operators, and direct-to-consumer channels, giving it a multichannel footprint that differentiates it from competitors confined to retail only. Whether this LTO format becomes a recurring seasonal program — as the Star Spangled Pack's second-year return suggests it might — will be a key indicator of Hint's ability to drive incremental volume outside its core everyday lineup. A consumer sweepstakes tied to the launch, offering travel prizes to Palm Springs, Aspen, or New York City, adds a promotional layer designed to accelerate trial and social amplification.
