Java Factory is extending three of Unilever's most recognizable frozen-treat brands — Klondike®, Good Humor®, and Popsicle® — into the retail coffee aisle through officially licensed limited-edition collaborations, the South Plainfield, N.J.-based roaster announced September 14. The releases headline Ice Cream Truck Season, the second themed chapter of Java Factory's Flavor52 initiative, a year-long program committing the company to 52 new coffee SKUs across 52 consecutive weeks.

The Release Calendar

The Ice Cream Truck Season drop schedule runs one new flavor every Monday: Klondike® (Sept. 14), Raspberry Italian Ice (Sept. 21), Popsicle® Firecracker (Sept. 28), Good Humor® Chocolate Éclair (Oct. 5), Good Humor® Toasted Almond (Oct. 12), and a Mystery Halloween Flavor (Oct. 19). Additional licensed releases — including Creamsicle® and Breyers® Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough — round out the season. All SKUs are built on specialty-grade 100% Arabica Brazilian coffee, with flavor development handled by Flavor & Fragrance Specialties (FFS), a division of Lucta, which translates each brand's sensory profile — aroma, taste, and nostalgic associations — into the coffee format.

"The idea that you can wake up and drink a coffee inspired by a Klondike bar, a Good Humor Chocolate Éclair or a Popsicle Firecracker is exactly what Flavor52 is about," said Sam Blaney, Executive Vice President of Java Factory. "We're taking flavors and brands people already have an emotional connection to and putting them somewhere they never expected to find them: their coffee cup."

Collaboration Culture Meets Coffee

Flavor52 is structured across six themed seasons — Throwback Collection, Ice Cream Truck, Sweater Weather, Wild Ones, Just Desserts, and The Finale — designed to mimic the limited-edition drop cadence that has driven engagement in snack and confectionery categories. Consumers can track releases and vote on their favorites via a leaderboard on javafactory.com; the highest-rated coffees earn a shot at permanent lineup status when Flavor52 concludes, while lower-rated SKUs retire. Steven Schrieber, President of Java Factory, framed the strategy in explicitly competitive terms: "Those categories are constantly creating something new for consumers to discover. Coffee has largely been operating on a much slower cycle."

For retail buyers and foodservice operators evaluating the flavored hot-beverage segment, the model has meaningful shelf-velocity implications. The flavored coffee segment has historically leaned on a small roster of seasonal LTOs — pumpkin spice being the canonical example — leaving significant whitespace for brands willing to maintain a year-round innovation pipeline. Java Factory is betting that a weekly drop rhythm, combined with licensed IP from widely distributed frozen-treat brands, can compress the discovery cycle and drive repeat trial in a way that a single annual LTO cannot.

Guinness Attempt and 2027 Timeline

The program carries an additional headline ambition: a Guinness World Records attempt for the most unique coffee flavors launched by a single brand within one year. Flavor52 is scheduled to culminate at the 2027 Summer Fancy Food Show, where Java Factory plans to unveil its 52nd and final flavor. That timeline positions the brand for significant trade exposure heading into the back half of next year, and signals that the Flavor52 platform is designed as much to build brand equity and retail shelf presence as to move individual SKUs.

For operators and retail buyers tracking licensed-brand extensions, the Java Factory collaborations illustrate a broadening trend: heritage CPG brands seeking new daypart relevance through coffee adjacency, while emerging roasters use recognized IP to reduce trial friction at shelf.
