Minneapolis-based JT Mega has named Erin Denham as president, effective January 1, 2027, making her only the third person to hold that title since the food-and-beverage advertising agency was founded in 1976. Denham succeeds Phil Lee, who guided the independent shop for nearly four decades and will shift to a strategic advisor role.

Leadership Transition

Denham joined JT Mega in 2006 and was elevated to vice president and partner in 2021. Over two decades she has steered client strategy, agency-wide technology initiatives, and professional development programs — work that has helped JT Mega land repeated recognition as a Minnesota Star Tribune Top Workplace. As president and managing partner, she joins an existing partner group that includes Muriel Bartelme Kreske, Ann Strong, Mike Alberts, and Anna Braun.

Lee, in stepping aside, credited Denham's institutional knowledge and cultural fit. "Erin embodies JT Mega's independent spirit and insatiable curiosity about what's next, and she understands our people, our clients and our business inside and out," he said. Denham framed her mandate around the complexity facing food-and-beverage marketers today: "Our clients are navigating an increasingly complex industry, and they need partners who understand their business, challenge their thinking and bring ideas that make a real difference."

Agency at a Glance

Founded from a Minneapolis kitchen table by Jay Mega in 1976, JT Mega operates as a fully independent, full-service shop with more than 60 employees at its Minnetonka Boulevard headquarters. The agency works exclusively in food and beverage — a narrow vertical focus that has attracted long-term engagements with Hormel Foods, CJ Schwan's, and Kraft Heinz. Capabilities span go-to-market strategy, creative, media, experiential, sales enablement, and culinary development through its in-house Blue Flame Culinary Studio.

That vertical specialization is increasingly a differentiator in an agency landscape where food-and-beverage brands are under margin pressure and scrutinizing marketing partners more closely. As consolidation reshapes the broader foodservice supply chain, specialist agencies with deep category fluency — from retail grocery to foodservice channels — are positioning themselves as indispensable growth partners rather than interchangeable vendors.

What's Next

Denham's appointment arrives as JT Mega celebrates its 50th anniversary, a milestone that gives the transition symbolic weight without disrupting operational continuity. The incoming partner group's combined tenure at the agency spans decades, suggesting stability in client relationships — a critical variable for shops where individual account stewardship drives retention. Denham's stated priorities center on protecting the agency's independence and people-first culture while sharpening its ability to serve clients navigating channel fragmentation, shifting consumer demand, and accelerating digital media complexity.
