The Menu Moves
Long John Silver's is pushing a broad seasonal menu refresh effective November 2, anchoring its fall daypart strategy around the return of Clam Chowder and a value-priced Fish Basket — moves designed to drive traffic and check frequency as QSR operators broadly compete on comfort and value heading into Q4.
The Clam Chowder — a creamy, clam-forward soup finished with the chain's signature Crumblies — returns in small and large sizes and is also packaged into a new Fish and Chowder Platter: two pieces of hand-battered fish, Clam Strips, a small Clam Chowder, one side, two hushpuppies, and Crumblies. Meredith Smith, director of brand marketing at Long John Silver's, called the chowder return straightforward guest-demand fulfillment. "There's just something about a warm bowl of Clam Chowder when the weather turns cold," she said. "We're bringing back the original recipe our guests know and love, and of course, topping it with our signature Crumblies."
Value and Permanence
The $6 Fish Basket — two pieces of hand-battered fish, one side, and two hushpuppies — closes out what the brand framed as a year-long $6 Basket promotional calendar. At that price point, the basket positions Long John Silver's against the value-meal conversation that dominated QSR headlines through 2025 and into 2026, as chains from McDonald's to Burger King competed to retain cost-pressured guests with sub-$7 meal deals.
Not everything on this drop is limited-time. Mac and Cheese — cavatappi pasta in a white cheddar cream sauce, topped with Crumblies — is moving to permanent menu status, available as an individual side or a family-size serving. Locking in a comfort-food side permanently is a low-risk margin play for franchise operators: the format travels well for off-premise, pads the average check when attached to a combo, and requires no protein handling complexity. For a seafood-specialty chain with franchisee economics under ongoing scrutiny across the casual and fast-casual seafood segment, permanent LTO-to-core conversions like this can stabilize food-cost planning.
Sweet and Beverage Additions
On the beverage and dessert side, Long John Silver's is adding Dirty Sodas — any 20-ounce fountain drink with a sweet cream add-in — and a limited-time Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake developed with The Cheesecake Factory Bakery. The Cheesecake Factory Bakery co-branding follows a well-worn QSR playbook: third-party dessert partnerships deliver menu news with minimal kitchen complexity and carry the brand equity of a recognizable name. The collaboration echoes similar moves seen across the fast-food dessert and co-branded LTO space as chains look for affordable check-builders that photograph well for digital channels.
All items are available at participating Long John Silver's locations nationwide. The chain, founded in Louisville in 1969, operates across dine-in, carry-out, and delivery channels.
