Atlanta-based marrō has secured retail distribution across roughly 50 Northern California doors spanning three Raley's Family of Fine Stores banners — Raley's, Nob Hill Foods and Bel Air Markets — marking the wellness beverage brand's most significant off-premise retail push to date. The product is merchandised through the chain's Get Curious discovery program, which runs through Nov. 3 and functions as a structured proving ground for emerging better-for-you brands.

At $5.99 MSRP per 12 oz can, marrō sits at a premium price point within the functional beverage set. Each can delivers 12 grams of non-dairy protein, collagen, essential amino acids, electrolytes and B12, with zero sugar and 60 calories. The format — carbonated, fruit-flavored, shelf-stable — repositions bone broth as a grab-and-go cold beverage rather than a sipping broth or cooking ingredient, a distinction that separates it from most existing bone broth SKUs in grocery.

The Get Curious Stakes

Get Curious is not a passive endcap placement. Raley's uses in-program sales velocity to determine which products earn a permanent position in the main store set, effectively turning the promotion window into a buyer audition. For marrō, that compresses the commercialization timeline: consumer trial in the next several weeks directly influences whether the brand moves from a discovery feature into recurring, chain-wide distribution. The program is available both in-store and through raleys.com and the Raley's app for pickup and delivery.

"Getting it into shoppers' hands is everything, because once people taste it, it stops being a someday wellness habit and becomes an everyday one," said Nick Foreste, Founder and CEO of marrō. Foreste positioned Northern California as a strategically deliberate first market, citing the region's wellness-forward consumer profile.

Functional Beverage Context

The functional beverage category has grown increasingly crowded as brands compete across protein, hydration, adaptogens and gut-health positioning — often overlapping on multiple claims. Bone broth as a beverage base remains a relatively uncrowded sub-segment within that landscape; most branded bone broth sits in shelf-stable aseptic cartons or frozen formats rather than carbonated RTD. marrō's three SKUs — Blueberry Lemonade, Peach Mango and Blackberry Lime — are designed to compete on taste accessibility as much as nutritional credentials, targeting morning, afternoon and post-workout dayparts.

For regional grocery operators evaluating the better-for-you beverage set, the Raley's placement offers a data point on whether a premium-priced, protein-forward sparkling broth can achieve meaningful trial velocity in a discovery context. The outcome of the Get Curious window will be a meaningful signal for both the brand and the broader functional NAB segment as it heads into 2027 planning cycles.
