The LTO
P.F. Chang's is deploying a Japan-themed limited-time menu across its 300-plus domestic and international locations starting September 16, leaning into premium proteins and a new spirits partnership to drive check and traffic through the autumn daypart. The "Autumn in Kyoto" program runs through November 3, 2026, at participating units while supplies last.
The culinary centerpiece is a two-SKU duck build. Duck Wings arrive tossed in teriyaki sauce and finished with toasted sesame, Fresno peppers, and scallions — a shareable format well-suited to the chain's table-service model. Duck Fried Rice layers shredded duck over julienned vegetables, edamame, fried shallots, kimchi, chili jam, chili-spiced butter, and a fried egg, positioning it as a premium upgrade on one of the brand's historically strong entrée categories. Rounding out the new SKUs: Wagyu Egg Rolls, filled with Wagyu beef, black pepper, garlic, ginger, and julienned vegetables, finished with black garlic aioli. The Sushi Boat, a shareable returning item, re-enters the menu to anchor group occasions.
Bar Program
The beverage side of the LTO introduces a first-of-kind on-premise play. P.F. Chang's is among the first national chain operators to carry YOSHI Matcha Liqueur, described as the first matcha liqueur to market, crafted with ceremonial-grade matcha. The partnership yields the Matcha Martini — blending RumChata, YOSHI Matcha Liqueur, cream of coconut, and cinnamon — designed to capture the growing consumer interest in both matcha and premium cocktail culture. A second seasonal cocktail, the Kyoto Cabin, pairs Woodford Reserve Bourbon with black tea, maple, lemon, and a nutmeg finish, targeting the whiskey-forward daypart that tends to strengthen in Q4.
"Autumn gives us the opportunity to work with deeper, richer flavors and ingredients that feel especially craveable this time of year," said Steve Solis, VP of Culinary at P.F. Chang's. "We challenged ourselves to reimagine familiar P.F. Chang's favorites through unexpected seasonal pairings."
Operator Context
For a polished-casual concept competing against both fast-casual Asian specialists and full-service casual dining peers, the fall LTO strategy follows a well-established playbook: premium proteins (Wagyu, duck) signal quality tiering without full menu restructuring, while a spirits co-branding deal adds a bar-revenue angle that lower-priced competitors cannot easily replicate. The duck format in particular — wings as a shareable appetizer, fried rice as an entrée — lets the kitchen run a single protein across two daypart occasions, an efficiency consideration that matters in today's elevated labor-cost environment.
P.F. Chang's also attached a cause-marketing overlay, with guests able to round up their check via Round It Up America to benefit Starlight Children's Foundation, or purchase a $10 limited-edition plush through a Buy One, Give One program. Cause-linked programs at checkout have shown measurable lift in average check at comparable polished-casual operators and can support repeat-visit intent through Q4.
Chief Executive Officer Jim Mazany framed the launch around occasion-driven dining: "With Autumn in Kyoto, we've designed a warm, rich, and highly unique, limited-time menu to give guests something new to discover and enjoy together."
For operators tracking menu innovation trends in full-service and polished-casual segments, the P.F. Chang's approach — anchoring a seasonal narrative around a specific geography and cultural moment — reflects a broader shift away from generic "fall flavors" toward more differentiated culinary storytelling. The growing role of premium spirits partnerships in casual-dining bar programs is also an area to watch as chains seek higher-margin revenue streams amid persistent cost pressures.
