PepsiCo Foods U.S. is extending its Good Warrior masterbrand into the protein bar set, launching three bar formats with 15g of complete protein per unit — the brand's second product category following Beef Sticks introduced earlier in 2026.
The bars carry 7g or less of sugar, are positioned as a good source of fiber, and contain no artificial preservatives or flavors. Two SKUs — Marshmallow Bar in Sweet Cocoa and Brownie Crisp in Cookie Dough — are available now at select U.S. retailers. A third format, the Cremewich in Cookies & Cream, is slated for early 2027 rollout.
The Demand Signal
PepsiCo Foods is leaning on its own commissioned research to frame the launch. An August 2026 survey of 1,000 nationally representative Americans found 59% report eating more protein than they did a year ago. A separate January 2026 survey from the same panel found 86% of Americans are actively adding protein to their diets, with more than 50% prioritizing protein during snacking occasions. Those figures underpin PepsiCo's argument that protein consumption has moved well beyond gym-bag demographics into everyday eating occasions — commutes, afternoon slumps, late-office nights.
Hernán Tantardini, Chief Marketing Officer at PepsiCo Foods U.S., framed the launch as portfolio evolution rather than incremental SKU extension. "Consumers are looking for more from their snacks today — whether that's added protein, fiber, select ingredients, or all of the above — and great taste remains non-negotiable," he said. "Good Warrior Bars offer a convenient option for busy people who don't want to compromise on taste or functional benefits."
PepsiCo's Functional Stack
The Good Warrior bar entry joins a growing functional-snack layer inside PepsiCo Foods that now includes Doritos Protein, SmartFood Fiber Pop coated popcorn, SunChips Fiber whole grain and black bean snacks, Quaker Protein Granola Bars, and Quaker Protein Old Fashioned Oats. The cluster signals a deliberate shelf-blocking strategy in the functional-snack aisle, where PepsiCo (NASDAQ: PEP) is competing directly with independent better-for-you bar brands that have driven category growth over the past several years.
For foodservice and noncommercial operators — particularly c-store foodservice, campus dining, and workplace micro-market accounts — the Good Warrior bar line represents the kind of grab-and-go, ambient-shelf protein option that buyers have increasingly been sourcing from the branded snack set rather than foodservice-specific distributors. Operators tracking better-for-you snack trends will recognize the format: complete-protein positioning, clean-label callouts, and a confectionery-adjacent flavor profile designed to pull impulse purchase from candy and traditional bar sets simultaneously.
More Good Warrior SKUs are expected in 2027, according to the company. Retail availability can be verified at www.GoodWarrior.com/where-to-buy. For operators and buyers tracking PepsiCo's broader portfolio moves, the Beef Stick line is also adding a new flavor next year, suggesting the masterbrand is on an accelerated development calendar.
