The Expansion Play
Taco Bell is accelerating Live Más Café into three new markets — greater Indianapolis, the Las Vegas Strip, and additional Southern California sites — as the beverage-forward sub-concept reaches 39 operating locations and the brand keeps its sights on $5 billion in system beverage sales by 2030. The rollout pairs a four-SKU horchata LTO at Café locations with a December 10 nationwide limited-time release of select horchata beverages at standard Taco Bell restaurants, widening the concept's commercial footprint beyond dedicated Café units.
The Numbers
Live Más Café has moved approximately 1.3 million beverages since launch, with breakfast and afternoon emerging as the concept's strongest dayparts — a meaningful signal for a QSR brand historically indexed toward lunch and dinner. Transaction growth at existing Café units has trended favorably, according to the company, though no same-store sales figures were disclosed. The horchata lineup debuts October 15 across four formats priced from $4.19 to $5.29, with the Chocolate Horchata Cold Brew Float at the top of the range ($4.79 small / $5.29 medium). The brand's best-selling beverage launch to date — the You Seem Pretty Pink for a Baja Blast — demonstrated consumer willingness to trade up on specialty drinks within the Taco Bell ecosystem, validating the premium price architecture the Café concept is built around.
Market-by-Market Build
The Indianapolis entry brings three locations: two company-owned units and one operated by KMAC Enterprises, the newest area development partner in the Live Más Café franchise network. The first opens October 22 in West Lafayette, with Greenfield and Muncie to follow before year-end. In Las Vegas, Taco Bell is partnering with long-tenured franchisee Diversified Restaurant Group to open a standalone flagship inside a shipping container adjacent to the existing Las Vegas Cantina on the Strip — a format that adds Vegas-exclusive alcohol-forward beverages like a spiked Mountain Dew Baja Blast and a Cold Brew Cinnatini alongside branded merchandise. The destination-retail overlay gives the Las Vegas unit a revenue mix closer to an entertainment venue than a traditional QSR beverage program. Southern California, the concept's home market, will gain three additional units at Century City Mall, Irvine, and Tustin.
Beverage Strategy Context
Taco Bell's push into specialty beverages tracks a broader segment dynamic: fast-casual and QSR operators have increasingly treated beverage as a margin and traffic lever, with competitors like Dutch Bros, Scooter's Coffee, and even McDonald's CosMc's concept all crowding the customizable-drink daypart. Live Más Café gives Taco Bell — a Yum! Brands asset — a controlled testing environment to iterate on flavor and format before committing to systemwide rollout, a product-development model that limits capital exposure while generating consumer data at scale. Liz Matthews, Global Chief Food Innovation Officer at Taco Bell, described the Café as a read-and-react platform: "Seeing that excitement continue to grow across our Cafés tells us we're onto something special, and we're ready to take it even further with bold new drinks." The brand has launched nearly two dozen beverage innovations through the concept since opening. International application of beverage learnings is also under exploration, per the company, suggesting the Café playbook could inform menu strategy across Taco Bell's global franchise base. Operators evaluating franchise development opportunities in the beverage-forward QSR segment will note that Live Más Café's asset-light shipping-container format in Las Vegas signals flexibility in site selection and build-out cost.
