Vermont Information Processing (VIP) has named Emiliano Delucia Chief Product and Technology Officer, consolidating oversight of product strategy, engineering, and technology across the combined VIP and Encompass Technologies portfolio. The appointment comes directly on the heels of VIP's acquisition of Encompass and signals an accelerated integration timeline aimed at delivering AI-enabled capabilities to food and beverage operators.
The Leadership Play
Delucia spent his most recent tenure as CPTO at Encompass Technologies, where he led platform modernization and launched several operator-facing products — including OrderIQ, MileageTracker, ApIQ, and MerchSync — as well as Cowork, an agentic AI platform built specifically for the food and beverage industry. He brings more than 20 years of product and technology leadership, with earlier roles at Place, Red Ventures, and Halliburton. His direct familiarity with the Encompass product stack gives VIP a short runway on post-acquisition alignment, a common pressure point in foodservice-technology M&A.
CEO Andrew Criezis framed the hire around pace: "As we look ahead, we have an opportunity to accelerate the pace of AI innovation across our business while continuing to invest in the products and capabilities our customers depend on."
Integration and the AI Roadmap
VIP, which claims more than 50 years of food and beverage industry tenure, has historically built its reputation on software, data analytics, and automation solutions tied to how distributors and operators actually run their businesses. Encompass brings a more modern technology foundation and demonstrated AI product development. The combination positions VIP to compete more directly with a growing field of foodservice-technology vendors packaging AI into supply-chain, ordering, and back-office workflows.
Delucia's stated priority is practical application rather than broad platform ambition. "That means listening closely to customers, continuing to invest in the products they rely on today, and applying technology and AI in practical ways that make their businesses more efficient, connected and easier to run," he said. For Encompass customers in particular, the integration is expected to open access to complementary capabilities across the wider VIP portfolio — including expanded data and connected-technology layers.
What It Means for Operators
For foodservice and food-and-beverage operators using either platform, the near-term message is continuity: existing products, relationships, and support structures remain in place. The longer-term proposition is a broader technology stack with more resources behind it. That framing is standard post-acquisition positioning, but the appointment of a CPTO with direct product lineage on both sides of the deal reduces the integration risk that often delays feature development after M&A closes.
The foodservice-technology sector has seen sustained consolidation as operators demand more connected, data-driven tools across procurement, distribution, and customer-engagement channels. VIP's move to unify its product organization under a single executive reflects that pressure — and sets up a clearer roadmap for operators evaluating platform partners heading into 2027.
