Swedish candy brand BUBS hit 60,000 U.S. retail doors in its first 12 months on shelf — a distribution ramp that few imported confectionery entrants have matched — and is now layering in new SKUs and seasonal packaging to sustain velocity heading into Q4.

The New SKU Slate

Two berry-forward ovals arrive at mass and value retailers this September. Sour Forest Berries Ovals — a tangy blueberry-raspberry combination in 5.5-ounce bags at a $3.00 MSRP — land exclusively at Five Below. Sweet Wild Berry Pomegranate Ovals, a foamy-texture strawberry-pomegranate piece, hit Target in both 8-ounce ($4.99) and 5.5-ounce ($3.19) formats. The two-door exclusive strategy lets BUBS build retailer-specific assortments and reinforces the kind of channel differentiation that drives incremental placement at value and specialty tiers simultaneously.

Beyond the new flavors, BUBS is extending its size architecture on two proven performers. Strawberry Vanilla and Tutti Frutti will add 2.5-ounce and 8-ounce bags at major retailers later this year — broadening the on-shelf occasion range from individual grab-and-go to shareable bag formats. The move mirrors a broader candy-aisle trend where brands monetize loyal trial by trading buyers up to larger ring sizes once repeat purchase is established.

Halloween and What's Ahead

For its first seasonal activation in the U.S. market, BUBS is releasing a limited-edition Halloween package for its Lemon Raspberry Skalle — the skull-shaped piece that has driven significant social media engagement — exclusively at Five Below at a $3.00 suggested retail price. Seasonal limited-time offerings have become a reliable sales-lift mechanism in the confectionery segment, and the skull format gives BUBS a natural tie-in that most gummy competitors lack.

Åsa Gisel, head of marketing at BUBS, said the brand's U.S. fan response has directly shaped the expansion cadence. "We've been so inspired by the love from our U.S. fans, and these new flavors, sizes and seasonal designs are our way of giving fans even more of what they love," she said, noting that additional launches are planned through 2027.

The BUBS portfolio is positioned around a clean-label profile — vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and free from palm oil, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, and Red 40 — attributes that have gained traction with specialty and natural-channel buyers as better-for-you snack innovation continues to reshape the candy aisle. Parent company Orkla Snacks, a unit of Norwegian conglomerate Orkla, has significant manufacturing scale across the Nordic market, giving BUBS supply-chain depth as U.S. door counts expand.

For foodservice operators and retail buyers tracking imported snack brands, BUBS's trajectory — zero to 60,000 doors in 12 months via Target, Five Below, and Walgreens — represents a meaningful case study in velocity-driven retail expansion supported by organic social media demand rather than traditional trade promotion spend.
