The LTO

Chick-fil-A is rolling a four-item limited-time lineup into more than 3,000 domestic units beginning August 24, anchored by the new Chicken & Waffles Sandwiches — a format engineered to drive traffic across two dayparts rather than one. The chain, the third-largest quick-service restaurant operator in the United States, tested the sandwiches in select markets in 2025 before greenlighting the national launch.

The Chicken & Waffles platform offers a smaller-format breakfast sandwich available from open through 10:30 a.m., then pivots to a larger entrée version from 10:30 a.m. through close. Both builds feature maple-flavored waffles, a signature Chick-fil-A filet, applewood smoked bacon, honey butter spread and a side of classic syrup. Guests can specify Original, Spicy or Grilled filet, giving operators a customization handle that supports check-building and repeat visits.

Beverage Add-Ons

Paired with the sandwich launch are two S'mores-flavored beverages. The S'mores Milkshake blends the chain's Icedream dessert base with chocolate shortbread, graham cracker crumbles and marshmallow-flavored syrup and whipped topping. The S'mores Frosted Coffee layers those same inclusions into cold-brewed coffee and Icedream — a format that has demonstrated strong incremental attach rates for the chain since the Frosted Coffee line launched. Both beverages skew toward the afternoon and evening dayparts, where QSR beverage competition from specialty coffee concepts and legacy players remains intense.

Allison Duncan, director of menu and packaging for Chick-fil-A, noted the lineup was informed directly by test-market guest response. "After seeing the incredible response and excitement from Guests in our test markets, we couldn't wait to share these flavors nationwide," Duncan said.

Menu Strategy Context

The fall drop fits neatly inside Chick-fil-A's yearlong "Newstalgia" platform, a campaign tying the privately held chain's 80-year heritage to incremental menu innovation. Earlier 2026 activations included the now-permanent Frosted Sodas and Floats and limited-run Classic Cups collectibles — a broader approach to guest engagement that goes beyond a single LTO and builds continuity across the calendar year.

From an operator standpoint, the dual-daypart sandwich architecture is notable. Breakfast remains an underpenetrated daypart for Chick-fil-A relative to its lunch and dinner volume, and structuring the Chicken & Waffles item to transition seamlessly into an entrée offering at 10:30 a.m. reduces the risk of split kitchen operations while extending the product's revenue window. For franchisees operating under the chain's unique owner-operator model — where local operators hold a single-unit license rather than a traditional area development agreement — LTOs that lift both morning and midday traffic have an outsized impact on unit-level economics.

The QSR chicken segment continues to see elevated competitive pressure on LTO frequency, with rivals regularly cycling sweet-and-savory flavor profiles to capture seasonal share. Chick-fil-A's move to nationally validate a 2025 test concept on a compressed timeline signals confidence in the format's sales lift potential. The fall window, historically strong for comfort-forward flavors, gives the chain a clear runway before the holiday LTO cycle intensifies across the broader restaurant category.

Operators sourcing breakfast proteins and waffle components should note the August 24 go-date as a supply chain coordination benchmark; the national scale of the rollout — spanning units across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the UK and Singapore — reflects the procurement complexity that accompanies Chick-fil-A LTOs at this volume.
