The New SKU
Sangría Señorial, the non-alcoholic sangría-flavored soda founded in Mexico in 1960, is extending its lineup with Sangría Señorial Zero — a zero-calorie, zero-sugar variant positioned to capture health-conscious consumers across retail and on-premise accounts alike. The launch adds a meaningful incremental SKU to a 66-year-old brand that has built steady distribution across the U.S. sunbelt market without carrying a single gram of alcohol.
In an internal consumer taste test with 400 participants, more than three-quarters of respondents could not distinguish Sangría Señorial Zero from the original formula — a blind-test result the brand is using as a central trade argument for retail and foodservice buyers evaluating shelf space or back-bar placement. Jorge Gamboa, brand manager of Sangría Señorial, framed the extension as a flavor-first move: "With Sangría Señorial Zero, we're giving consumers another way to experience the unique flavor they love — with zero sugar and zero calories, without compromising the experience."
Operator Relevance
For foodservice operators, zero-sugar NAB options have become a standard menu expectation rather than a niche accommodation. The zero-sugar carbonated soft drink segment has expanded steadily as chain beverage programs and independent operators field growing demand from calorie-conscious daypart guests — particularly at lunch and dinner where sugary sodas increasingly compete against sparkling water and functional beverages. A non-alcoholic sangría SKU with no sugar load offers casual dining and fast-casual operators a differentiated pourable that can merchandise alongside mocktail programs without requiring bar infrastructure.
Sangría Señorial Zero will be available in the brand's signature single glass bottles and 1.5-liter plastic bottles through select retail and online channels. The single-serve glass format translates readily to table-service programs where bottled NABs are poured tableside, while the 1.5-liter format suits catering and fast-casual dispensing setups. The brand's existing SKU architecture — which includes 4-packs, 30-packs, 750ML, and 524ML formats — gives distributors and operators flexible case configurations for different volume tiers.
Category Backdrop
The zero-sugar NAB push reflects a broader beverage portfolio strategy playing out across the category: legacy soda brands are adding sugar-free extensions to protect volume share as consumers trade toward better-for-you options. For an ethnically rooted brand like Sangría Señorial — whose core identity is tied to the sangría drinking occasion without alcohol — the zero-calorie variant also broadens the brand's appeal across demographic cohorts that prioritize both cultural flavor relevance and nutritional accountability. The NAB sangría niche remains largely uncontested by major CSD players, giving Sangría Señorial room to own the format expansion on its own terms.
