Swedish candy brand Sockerbit is entering national natural-grocery distribution through a two-track partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market, placing a Swedish Pick & Mix bulk program in 17 pilot stores across California and Florida while simultaneously rolling a 12-SKU packaged assortment into nearly 500 Sprouts doors nationwide beginning in October 2026.

The move marks the first time the Pick & Mix format — in which shoppers self-select individual candies from a curated bulk assortment — has appeared inside a national natural-channel retailer. For Sprouts, which operates more than 500 stores across 25 states and employs approximately 36,000 team members, the program extends the chain's specialty-bulk positioning into the confectionery category with a clean-label offering: no high-fructose corn syrup, no Red 40, and products made with natural flavors and colors.

The Assortment

The pilot bulk program offers shoppers 12 candy varieties, four of which are exclusive to Sprouts. The launch also serves as an expansion vehicle for Sockerbit's Dream Series, its best-selling line of soft, aerated foam candy. Banana Dream and Sour Berry Dream debut here as the first extensions beyond the original Strawberry Dream SKU, available exclusively in Sprouts bulk bins. Sockerbit Mallows are also making their grocery-channel debut at the retailer, led by a new Sour Peach flavor launching exclusively with Sprouts.

"This launch is meaningful to me because Pick & Mix has always been part of how I grew up with candy," said Stefan Ernberg, Co-Founder of Sockerbit. "It's about choosing your favorites, trying something new, and sharing the experience with the people around you."

Retail Channel Context

For the natural and specialty grocery segment, bulk-format experiential programs have become a differentiation lever as operators compete against conventional supermarkets and mass-channel competitors. Sprouts' decision to pilot Pick & Mix in the bulk department — rather than simply slotting packaged goods — signals confidence in the format's ability to drive basket-building and repeat visits, two metrics that matter in a channel where transaction frequency lags conventional grocery.

Sockerbit, founded in 2010 by Ernberg and Florence Baras as the first brand to introduce Sweden's lördagsgodis Saturday-candy tradition to the U.S. market, has operated standalone retail stores for more than 16 years. The Sprouts partnership represents a significant channel-expansion step, converting a specialty boutique concept into a scalable grocery-channel SKU and in-store experience without requiring owned-retail footprint. The 12-SKU packaged lineup provides the brand incremental shelf presence in the natural-grocery channel at a scale its own store count cannot reach.

Locations carrying the Pick & Mix pilot are listed at sockerbit.com/pages/our-stores. Industry observers watching clean-label confectionery trends should note the program's alignment with Sprouts' broader merchandising focus on non-GMO, gluten-free, and specialty-diet products — a positioning that supports premium price points and margin potential for both the retailer and the brand.

For operators and buyers tracking specialty retail trends, the Sockerbit-Sprouts pilot is a useful case study in how experiential bulk formats are reshaping natural-grocery center-store strategy and how emerging confectionery brands are scaling through channel partnerships rather than owned-retail expansion.
