New Commercial Leadership
Belgian Boys, the Brooklyn-based European-inspired breakfast brand, has appointed Louisa Lawless as Chief Commercial Officer, tapping a veteran commercial strategist to accelerate retail distribution and build what the company describes as a category of its own. The hire signals the brand's intent to move aggressively into new channels and retailer partnerships after consecutive appearances on Instacart's Fastest-Growing Brands list.
Lawless arrives with nearly two decades of commercial leadership across high-velocity food and beverage brands. Most recently, she served as CCO at Korb Health Group, where she oversaw commercialization across personalized health verticals. Before that, as EVP of Commercial Marketing and Sales at Nutrabolt, she led the go-to-market strategy for the Bloom, C4, Cellucor, and Xtend portfolios — a portfolio that competes in some of the most crowded segments in the CPG landscape.
A Track Record in Exits and Scale
Lawless's résumé carries a milestone that commands attention in emerging-brand circles: as Chief Strategy Officer at Core Nutrition, she helped engineer the brand's $525 million acquisition by Keurig Dr Pepper — a marquee outcome that demonstrated her ability to build commercial infrastructure attractive to strategic buyers. Earlier stints at Golden West Food Group/Stratus Group, where she developed both branded and private-label portfolios, and early-career roles at Red Bull North America — including oversight of the largest energy drink market in the country — round out a background built on scaling better-for-you and functional beverage brands from early stage through mass distribution.
Distribution and Category Ambitions
In her new role, Lawless will own Belgian Boys' commercial strategy across retail, e-commerce, and everyday occasion channels. The brand competes in the refrigerated breakfast and European-inspired breakfast segment, where convenience-oriented positioning, clean-label credentials — non-GMO ingredients, no artificial flavors or preservatives — and premium packaging differentiate it from legacy breakfast players. CEO Anouck Gotlib cited both Lawless's track record and cultural alignment as decisive factors in the hire.
For operators and retail buyers tracking the breakfast daypart, the Belgian Boys move reflects a broader pattern: fast-growing CPG brands in the breakfast and morning-occasion segment are investing in senior commercial talent to convert early e-commerce momentum into durable brick-and-mortar velocity. Category leaders in refrigerated breakfast have seen sustained volume growth as consumers trade up from commodity frozen options, a trend covered extensively in our food and beverage retail analysis and emerging brand distribution coverage. Lawless's ability to pair brand-building expertise with hard commercial results — measured in distribution points gained, shelf placement secured, and retailer partnerships deepened — will be the metric that ultimately defines the appointment's success.
