Multi-unit restaurant supply chain platform Sightline OS has launched Continuity AI, a reasoning engine embedded in its inventory management system that identifies supply gap risks up to 12 weeks in advance and automatically prescribes corrective actions — aiming to shift chain supply chain teams from reactive firefighting to proactive inventory management.
The Numbers
The most concrete performance data comes from Bonchon, a 150-plus-unit Korean fried chicken chain and existing Sightline OS customer. Since adopting the platform, Bonchon's system-wide weighted average distributor fill rate climbed 1.1 percentage points to 99.3%, while the brand simultaneously cut product substitutions across a network spanning more than 35 distributor operating companies. For a franchise-heavy concept where menu consistency directly affects franchisee unit economics, those gains carry material weight.
"Sightline OS has transformed how we manage our supply chain," said Suzie Tsai, CEO of Bonchon. "With greater visibility across our distribution network and stronger forecasting capabilities, our team can identify potential inventory challenges earlier, collaborate more effectively with our partners, and improve supply reliability for our franchisees."
How the Engine Works
Continuity AI activates automatically when an inventory escalation is flagged inside Sightline OS. The system delivers five outputs per issue: an early warning scan that surfaces products already out of stock or trending that direction; an Impact Score on a 0-to-100 scale with a Critical/High/Medium/Low label; a Mitigation Outlook that classifies each issue as Preventable, Partially Preventable, or Unavoidable; a Next Best Action recommendation sized to a specific case count; and a Recommended Timing read on whether an order will land before the gap hits. The engine is also designed to distinguish a temporary blip — where an inbound order is already resolving the issue — from a systemic gap with additional stockouts building behind it, giving supply chain teams an honest prioritization tool rather than a raw alert feed.
For multi-unit operators, the stakes of getting that triage wrong are significant. A menu item outage costs revenue in the moment, erodes guest trust across repeat visits, and pulls supply chain staff off planning work to chase substitutions and expedited orders — a drag on both labor productivity and supplier relationships.
Market Context
The launch lands as supply chain volatility remains an elevated concern across the foodservice and restaurant segment. Distributor fill rates, once a back-office metric, have moved closer to the center of chain operations conversations following the procurement disruptions of recent years. Platforms competing for supply chain mindshare at multi-unit chains include a mix of established ERP-adjacent tools and a newer cohort of AI-native solutions — but Sightline OS positions its differentiation around proprietary supply network data specific to each chain, arguing that generic AI models cannot replicate recommendations grounded in a brand's actual distributor relationships and contract structures.
Yusha Hu, co-founder and CEO of Sightline OS, framed the problem in operator terms: "Nothing is a more expensive and urgent supply chain problem for a restaurant than when it doesn't have what it needs to serve its guests. The best sourcing and top quality are meaningless if a critical ingredient creates menu outages."
Sightline OS's customer roster includes Bonchon, Din Tai Fung, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, and Goop Kitchen. The team behind the platform draws on supply chain leadership backgrounds at sweetgreen, Chipotle, and HelloFresh. Continuity AI is available immediately for existing Sightline OS customers and for chains evaluating the platform's inventory optimization tools.
